in this velvet dungeon
our home ages ago
wrapped gifts from past
lie tangled here and there

whenever i try to remember
memories slide away
torn photographs
take flight as we approach

we mention our phobias
we have proven nothing
our search
for the lost unknown
ends in heartbreak

images from our past
haunt us
blame it on the night

but you are no stranger
to shadows
introduce me
to mysteries of darkness
with your gentle breath
if only for pleasure

does it matter anymore
who i am?
or what you are?
