Orul Naal Varum: Recreating the Sreenivasan-Mohanlal Magic
|
ont-size: larger;">Personally, it was refreshing to see our popular hero Mohanlal, Lalettan to the fans, in a different avatar from those he has been appearing in recent years – and, a trimmer one at that! Sometimes close-ups of our heroes give their faces a bloated look making the viewers impatient for a sequence shift.
Nedumudi Venu as a retired army man visiting the ATPO for the last many years to procure a permit and being denied it because he has ‘served the nation and I will not part with a paisa for getting the sanction’ is his stand. There is Kottayam Naseer as the man trying to get a marriage certificate, years after his marriage, and Devayani as Sreenivasan’s wife who is naïve and does not know what or how her husband functions. Suraj Venjaramoodu as Girish, the ATPO’s driver, does well as the sidekick who arranges for bribes but takes a cut out of them.
At the end of the film one is relieved because it does not skid half way and get into a ‘where-does-one-go-from-here’ mode. Shall we thank the Almighty for small mercies?
