LARGEST ISLAND

An island is a piece of land surrounded by water. Australia is so large it is a continent, not an island; otherwise it would rank first. The largest US island is Hawaii, which measures 10,456sqkm, and the largest off mainland USA is Kodiak, Alaska, at 9,510sq km. the smallest island with country status is Pitcairn, at just 4.53sq km.
